There is No Distinction in Christ (Day 5)

Lenten Devotion – There is No Distinction in Christ
Day 5, 19 February 2024

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave[g] nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:28

The Church is a melting pot of God’s love where people with different cultural, racial, social standing and gender can come together and worship the same ONE God.

It is a place where we put at the cross all of our biasedness and judgement of all people and accept them in fellowship with Christ being the One who have redeemed all of us and made us one with and through Him.

This reminds me of the time when I was interested in my wife (when we were single) and I asked her if we could go deeper in our relationship as a dating couple.

Her reply disappointed me then as she responded with ‘I only take you as my brother’.

I was close to being devastated as I told the Lord that she was my choice for a life partner.

However later in the evening, she called me back and apologized. For after praying, The Lord gave her this verse in Galatians 3: 28 – There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female , for we are all one in Christ. She wasn’t sure at first because I am an Indian but after The Lord gave her that scripture, she had peace and said yes to me.

So now we have been married for 36 years and counting!
Christ breaks all boundaries between God and us, and us with others.

Today if there is a boundary of hurt, tension and unresolved relationship issues with you and someone in the Church or family, or if you find it difficult to reach out to a brother or sister because of their ethnicity, social standing or economic status, The Word of God declares ‘put on Christ’ (vs 27) and ‘there is no longer Jew or Greek, slave or free, male or female for we are all ONE in Christ’.

Reach out in faith to them in forgiveness and love, trusting God to do His work of reconciliation and fellowship with them.
