The Importance of Perseverance

“Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering… because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.

“You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” (Hebrews 10:32-36)

What is one most important ingredient that will improve the taste of food?

This is a crucial question not only to chefs but to people who love to eat as well!

Opinions vary on this but there is a general consensus: the single most important factor to maximize taste is to add the right amount of salt. Too little salt and the food tastes bland. Too much of it makes the food too salty. But the right balance will enhance the flavour of your food greatly!

(Even the Scriptures alludes to the importance of salt! Colossians 4:5 says, “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt…”)

Is there similarly a single most ingredient to growing in our faith and in our walk with God?

Surprisingly, there is!

And the author of Hebrews identifies it: after all that you have experienced because of believing in Christ and done for the Lord, you need to persevere in trusting God! This is so that you will receive the reward God has prepared for you and not lose it!

God’s Spirit is always in the business of encouraging us persevere. We are urged to press on in seeking God (Matthew 7:7), to continue to do good (Galatians 6:9) and not to give up gathering together (Heb 10:25). We are even told to endure hardship as Christ’s good soldier (2 Timothy 2:3). Perseverance is the key to salvation and overcoming in the Christian faith (Matthew 24:13)!

So therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. (1 Cor 15:58)

Have a blessed day and weekend ahead!🙏
