Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” (John 12:23-24)
Have you ever met someone who could predict the future accurately?
Many people in this world would like to know what will happen to them in the future so that they can prepared for it. This is why wise people, analysts or even fortune tellers seem to always be sought after. However, we can never take their words as truth because no one can know the future fully.
The remarkable aspect of Jesus’ death is that he knew and predicted all that was going to happen to him. The events in the final week of Jesus’ life were not random occurrences that just came upon him. He knew beforehand what he will experience and told his disciples exactly that.
What is significance of the accuracy of Jesus’ predictions?
It makes his coming death and resurrection meaningful and powerful. If all that he has predicted about himself came to pass, then we can know that his death is not merely the coincidental act of envious Jews or cruel Roman soldiers, but the will of God to save all of humankind. God has intended to accomplish something specific through Jesus’ sacrifice!
How can we respond? It is for us to put our trust continually in Jesus.
John 6:40 says, “For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
As we continue to put our trust in Christ, we know that our belief is not in vain. It will bear much fruit both for ourselves and for others. And in the end, we can look forward to a new resurrected life with Christ for all eternity!
Holy Tuesday reminds us all that we live our lives according to God’s purposes. He knows every aspect of our future and never lets anything that happen in our lives take place in vain. We can walk with great confidence and assurance!
Have a blessed day🙏
