“The Lord Will Provide”
Day 39 – 3 Apr (Good Friday)
“So Abraham called the name of that place, ‘The Lord will provide.’” Genesis 22:14
Good Friday reminds us of the cost of love. The cross shows the depth of God’s heart. Yet this story begins long before the cross. In Genesis 22, God tested Abraham. He asked Abraham to offer his son Isaac. The very son God had promised.
Abraham trusted God even when he did not understand.
Imagine the walk up the mountain. Abraham and Isaac travel to Mount Moriah. Isaac carries the wood. Then Isaac asks a hard question. “Where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”
Abraham answers with quiet faith. “God will provide for himself the lamb.” Abraham obeys step by step. He builds the altar. He places Isaac on the wood. At the final moment God stops him. A ram appears in the thicket. God provides the sacrifice. Abraham names that place, “The Lord will provide.”
That mountain carries deep meaning. Mount Moriah later becomes the area where Jerusalem stands. Not far from there lies Golgotha.
Years later God the Father walks a similar path. This time the Son carries the wood of the cross. No voice stops the sacrifice. No ram replaces the Son. Jesus becomes the Lamb.
Good Friday shows the full meaning of Abraham’s words. The Lord will provide.
I learned something about this truth in my own life. I once had a job I enjoyed. The work was meaningful and the career path was clear. Then I sensed God asking me to serve in ministry, even though the pay was much lower.
I wrestled with that decision for months. One night I prayed, “Lord, I will take the next step. Help me trust you.” After that I said yes to the call.
The first year was not easy. Finances were tight. Yet God showed His care. One church member pledged support for a year. That gift carried me through an important season.
Years later I looked back and saw this clearly. I never saw the whole plan. I only took one step at a time. God provided what I needed along the way.
Where is God asking you to trust Him today?
Obedience can feel costly. You may not see the full plan. Abraham did not see it either. Yet he took the next step.
Good Friday shows the same truth. On the cross God did not hold back His Son. God provided the Lamb for us. The Lord will provide.
Trust God with the area that feels hardest. Take the next faithful step. God sees. God knows. God provides.
