From Guilt to Grace

From Guilt to Grace
(Day 24 – 17 Mar, Tue)

“So Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.” Hebrews 9:28

As I read through Hebrews 9:15–28, I was reminded that through Jesus’ death on the cross, I am saved and forgiven.

When I first began drawing closer to Christ, I became more aware of how sinful I was. I wanted to become better for Him. I would tell myself not to fall into temptation, and whenever I did, I felt frustrated and filled with guilt. I felt as if I had disappointed God.

In this passage, verse 22 reminds us that “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.” Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross was the price that made forgiveness possible.

As I continued reading God’s Word, I began to realise that the goal of the Christian life is not to become completely sinless or perfect on our own. As human beings, we will still fall short. Rather, it is to understand that God still loves us and accepts us, even in our weakness.

Knowing this changed my perspective. Instead of being overwhelmed by guilt when I sinned, I began to shift my focus back to Christ. Despite my sinful nature, He still accepts me and continues to draw me closer to Him.

As I strive to become more like Christ, I know that temptations will still come. Yet I also know that God will never forsake me. Whenever I fall, He is ready to lift me up again. I imagine it like a child running back into the loving arms of a father.

And just as He patiently waits for me to return to Him, I too now eagerly await His return.
