Lenten Devotion – Experience The Transformative Power of God
Day 22, 9 March 2024
“Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven… Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises.” Hebrews 8:1-6
The Chapter emphasizes that Jesus serves as our High Priest in heaven. He mediates a New Covenant that surpasses the Old Mosaic covenant.
This New Covenant promises not only a deeper personal relationship with God but also a transformative power in our lives. The laws of God are written in our hearts, leading to inner renewal and spiritual growth.
Hebrews 8 highlights that Jesus ministers in the Heavenly Tabernacle, which is the true place of worship. Unlike the earthly tabernacle built by human hands, this heavenly sanctuary was established by the Lord Himself.
During Lent, we reflect on our need for renewal and reconciliation with God. Hebrews 8 reminds us that Jesus’ work as our High Priest brings about a new way of relating to God. As we journey through Lent, let’s consider how the New
Covenant impacts our lives. Let it inspire us to seek a deeper connection with God and allow His transformative power to work within us.
I remembered that in 2010, when my friend attended my water baptism at COA, he then realized that as a Christian of more than 20 years, he was not baptised! Thus it served as a reminder and reflection of his Christian journey.
In 2011, with my encouragement and sharing of my Christian walk i.e. Bible Studies Group and Cell Group Meetings plus Our Daily Bread scriptures and attending BSF, he was convinced and was baptised.
May this Lenten season be a time of spiritual renewal and drawing closer to the heart of our heavenly High Priest so that we can experience and share the transformative power of God.
