“God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized.” (Hebrews 6:10-11)
It is always easier to start something than to finish well. This is because we all tend to become tired and distracted over time. What we need most is staying power!
And nothing is more relevant than the aspect of our faith in God!
Here the Scriptures is encouraging us to be diligent and disciplined not only in our focus but our habits as well. To continue our love for God and service to others. This is so that we will fully receive what we have hoped for!
Just last night, I was speaking with a youth whom I used to counsel and pray for. We have lost touch for some years and she shared that she is now struggling in her life because she has experienced a lot of “bad luck” recently. I then encouraged her to pray and trust in God’s leading in her life.
To my dismay, she then shared that she had “sort of lost her faith”. Life in the intervening years had been filled with other priorities and she had lost her focus and trust in God. But the good news was that she was willing to try again after I spoke with her.
Jesus, in his parable about discipleship, asks his disciples,
“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?” (Luke 14:28)
In other words, it is important to finish what we have started, especially in this most crucial aspect of our faith in God! Let’s continue to receive strength from the Holy Spirit to trust more and grow in our knowledge and love today!
Have a blessed day🙏
