To be Led, Loved and Made Complete in Christ

To be Led, Loved and Made Complete in Christ
Day 34 – 28 Mar (Sat)

“Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” Hebrews 13:20-21

Lent is a season of surrender—of loosening our grip on controlling our own lives and allowing God to shape us more deeply into His image. In this passage, we are reminded to “have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority.” We often resist guidance, preferring our independence and our own ways. Yet Lent gently exposes our pride and invites us into trust—not only in people, but in God, who works through pastoral staff and church leaders.

The passage also highlights the importance of prayer in verse 18: “Pray for us.” Our pastoral staff and church leaders—especially our Vicar, who labours tirelessly in reaching out to others—need our prayers and encouragement. Lent is not merely an individual journey. As a church family in COA, we are called to walk together, lifting one another up through prayer and encouragement.

At the heart of this passage is a beautiful benediction: that God would “equip you with everything good that you may do His will.” This reminds us that it is God who equips us for every good work. We need not fear that we are incapable of serving Him. Instead, we can trust that He will enable us to carry out the tasks He has set before us. Our part is simply to make ourselves available to Him—with confidence and obedience.

Finally, the passage closes with these words: “Grace be with all of you.” This is where Lent ultimately leads—not to self-improvement, but to His grace.

  • Do you find yourself resisting guidance or accountability in your life?
  • Who might God be calling you to pray for this week—especially those who lead or serve in COA?
  • In what areas do you need to trust that God is still shaping and equipping you?

Lord, in this season of Lent, soften our hearts to receive Your guidance and correction. Teach us to walk humbly with others, trusting that You are at work through them. Give us a spirit of prayer—for our community, our church leaders, and for those in need around us. Remind us that it is You who equips us for every good work. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ sustain us, today and always. Amen.
