Dear COA family,
Have you been rattled by events happening in the world or in your life?
Just this past week, we have heard news of wars and conflicts between countries in the world intensifying rather than abating. These wars have the potential to cause much suffering for many people in the world.
Besides that, we learnt of the terrible 7.7 magnitude earthquake that shook Myanmar, Thailand and Southern China last Friday. At least 2000 were killed in the earthquake. Many remain injured or homeless in the wake of the disaster and require food, shelter and medical treatment.
Additionally, we were inundated with financial news of global tariffs slapped by the United States on many countries, including Singapore, on Tuesday. There are widespread fears that this will lead to a trade war among the major powers of the world. This, in turn, will impact the livelihood of many people around the world.
Perhaps, on top of all these, some of you may even be struggling with personal or family crises and challenges at this time. They could come in the form of career roadblocks, broken household relationships or physical health struggles. You are hence desperately seeking for some solace or even good news that can cheer your heart or lift your spirit.
Where can hope truly be found at this time?
Hebrews 6:19 tells us, “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”
This hope is not based on the circumstances that we see or experience in this world but on God’s promise and goodwill towards us. He will watch over and take care of our lives and, in the coming age, grant us an eternal share of his kingdom. Because of that, we know that our future is secure. We do not have to be rattled or worry but place our trust fully upon him!
Beloved, this is my prayer for all of you at this time: that you may know the hope of God in you who is for you, and because of that, be at peace and secure in the storms of life, holding to his hope as an anchor.
